Passing by a pond with koi fish and lotus flowers blooming I walk into the salon where Chie greets me and leads me to the private treatment room. The room is decorated in muted tones with relaxing music playing in the background. I am here for the Lomilomi head spa treatment.
I sit in the consultation chair where my scalp is checked with a portable microscope camera. Chie shows me a picture of my scalp and I can see that my scalp has buildup of dead skin and the pores are clogged. After the consultation I was led to the fully reclining shampoo chair and a soft gauze cloth was placed over my eyes. The placement of the eye cover is almost like an invitation to start relaxing and to just enjoy the experience.
The head spa begins with a thorough shampoo and my hair and scalp is gently but firmly cleansed, a luxury in itself. After the relaxing shampoo the cooling spa gel is placed onto my scalp.
The application is deliberate with slight pressure to the scalp beginning at the top of the hairline down to the nape of the neck, repeated to cover the entire scalp. Even the gel application feels like a massage.
Next, the massage starts at the top of the hairline and covers the entire head going over various pressure points. Chie can tell where I am holding tension and kneads away the tense areas. She asks if the pressure is okay, it’s perfect.
The massage relaxes me so much that I was half asleep, half awake during the process. After the scalp massage a warm towel was placed at the nape of my neck and I drifted off.
Chie gently wakes me letting me know the treatment is over. I am so relaxed as I slowly get up and walk over to the consultation chair. Here I receive another massage on my neck, shoulders and head, a lovely way to come out of the treatment. My hair is dried and lightly styled to complete the head spa experience.
After the head spa Chie checks my scalp again and I am shocked to see the difference. The buildup is gone, my pores are clear, my face is brighter, the puffiness under my eyes went down and my entire face looks like I got a facelift. I am relaxed and rejuvenated and cannot wait for my next Lomilomi head spa at Tatsunosuke Salon.
